A NEW employment agency is set to open its doors in Chinchilla next week.
BEST Employment is a not-for-profit company that provides community and employment services in Queensland and New South Wales, and while it has serviced Chinchilla in the past, it's now opening a permanent shop front.
BEST Employment performance manager Dalby and Chinchilla Alanna Porter said the new office was opening due to incre- ased demand in the area.
"BEST Employment has been fortunate enough to receive additional business in the Chinchilla area and as a result there is a need for a permanent physical site in Chinchilla,” Miss Porter said.
"It's been really positive to see a significant spike in the labour market in Chinchilla over the last three months and we are confident we will be able to continue to support more Chinchilla jobseekers into sustainable employment.”
The new office will be open from 9.30am-3.30pm Tuesday to Thursday and will include group training facilities, and access to computers for job searching and printing off resumes.
Miss Porter said the company was focused on training and upskilling participants.
"For example in the last month, BEST has helped to upskill 10 of our local Chinchilla jobseekers with forklift licences due to labour market demands,” she said.
She said jobseekers receiving a government payment are eligible for BEST Employment services, as are locals working less than 15 hours per week who are not in receipt of Centrelink benefits.
She said staff would like to work with other organisations.
"We are eager to hear from any local community organisations who may be interested in connecting and working together to create upskilling opportunities through Work for the Dole activities for our participants.”
