Chinchilla man killed in horror highway crash

A 90-YEAR-OLD Chinchilla man was the victim of a tragic traffic crash 13km south of Miles this afternoon.

Police said preliminary information suggested a truck and van collided around 1.30pm on the Liechhardt Highway near the intersection of Fairy Meadow Road.

A 90-year-old Chinchillla man, a passenger from the van, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another passenger from the van, an 82-year-old Chinchilla woman, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Two other male passengers of the van aged 90 and 87 and the 75-year-old male driver received minor injuries.

The 28-year-old male truck driver from Chinchilla was uninjured.

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating and the highway is expected to open in the next hour.
