Darling Downs thieves steal 23 tonne Caterpillar loader

DARLING DOWNS thieves have made off with the unlikeliest of prizes - a 23 tonne Caterpillar loader.

Police said the loader was stolen from a private residence in Laycocks Road, Miles, between 10am on May 5 and 11am on May 9.

The victim told police the loader had been left locked and secured in the yard.

The yellow Caterpillar 966H wheeled loader has a Caterpillar quick hitch, with a large front end loader frame. The loader has a registration number of 54317C.

Police said the front attachment is a distinguishing feature, as is the fact the front tyres are brand new with virtually no sign of wear.

It is believed the loader was transported by an unidentified white prime mover towing a quad axle dolly and low loader trailer suitable to move the piece of machinery.
