Daycare centre recognised for shaping kids’ futures

A Sunshine Coast daycare centre has been recognised for its commitment to provide children with outstanding education from a young age.

C&K Coolum has taken out the Emeritus Professor Mary Mahoney AO, Award for Excellence in Innovation in Curriculum Award at the inaugural C&K Innovation in Curriculum Awards.

Centre director Jen Leo said it was a testament to the hardworking team of educators who were committed to giving children their best start.

"It's an ongoing journey. We're doing it for the children and we're also doing it for childcare to be able to have children leave our centre and go onto prep and be confident and capable learners out in the world," Ms Leo said.

"There's a much higher amount of kids attending daycare, and it's so important for children to have education from early on."

Ms Leo said it was an honour to win the award and be recognised for what the centre has been trying to achieve for years.

"It's a team award. Everyone works together and we do it for the children," she said.
