THE Miles Golf Club had three eventful days of competition last week during their annual weekend tournament.

The weekend swung into action on Friday with a two person ambrose, followed by 36 hole mixed 4BBB events on Saturday and Sunday.

Bruce and Noah Bidgood snatched up the ambrose, while Jeannie Bouttell and Sean Lloyd took out the win on both Saturday and Sunday in the mixed 4BBB.

Saturday's conditions were hot and breezy, but it didn't stop golfers from getting out to take a swing.

Hayden Bidgood took out Saturday's men's individual competition, and Faye Hollist won the ladies division.

The day ended with a barbecue dinner and live entertainment open to the public.

Golfer Jeannie Bouttell said it was a highlight.

"They all came down and supported the night,” Boutell said.

But on Sunday the competition became a bit more difficult.

"We got nine holes in then it was called off because of the rain,” Bouttell said.

The overall winners on Sunday for the 36 hole event (down to 27 due to the downpour) were Jeannie Bouttell and Sean Lloyd.

"It was an eventful weekend. We raised a few dollars for the club which we really needed,” Boutell said.

The overall winners were Sean Lloyd in the men's division and Faye Hollist in the ladies.

The club is planning to move the tournament forward next year, in the hope cooler weather will entice more golfers to come out for a game.

The club would like to thank sponsors Sibelco, Neilsen Transport, Hotel Australia Miles, the Q Hotel Miles, Foodworks Miles, The Miles Windsor, CMT Haulage Miles, Palmers Coaches, and CRC Electrical for their support.
