Kaleidoscope of dance

STUDENTS of Chinchilla Dance Studio have strutted their stuff in a kaleidoscope of colour and music at their end of year concert.

About 60 dancers from three to 24 years of age graced the stage at the Chinchilla Cultural Centre last Wednesday, showcasing a variety of dance styles in the 11-piece performance.

Dance teacher Asha Josland said it was a fantastic night for the dancers.

"The kids honestly had so much fun, at the end a lot of them weren't ready to go home and they wanted to go back on stage to do their dance again, but it was a smooth night which was really lovely,” she said.

The concert was named Kaleidoscope to highlight the different dance styles on show.

"We were just looking at it being that each of them were quite different so we were looking at different styles of choreography, different colours in our costumes and our lighting and then a really varied music soundtrack, so we were just trying to go for a bit of a mix this year,” Miss Josland said.

It's a great way to cap off the year for teachers Miss Josland and Mrs Kristen Flynn, with audience members commenting on how their students had matured as people and dancers.

"We had a slideshow of photos going through for the half an hour when people were buying raffle tickets before the show started,” Miss Josland said.

"It was quite funny, people actually commented that, looking at those photos, they could see the students age and actually see them from January to November really, not grow up, but really look more mature in themselves and in their dance ability as well.

"So the students really have grown lots this year.”

Miss Josland extended a thank you to all the volunteers who assisted and businesses who sponsored the dance school.

"We're just so very thankful to them we couldn't do it without them.”
