Make sure you write your letter to Santa before Christmas

THE countdown to Christmas has well and truly begun.

Santa and all his helpers are busy making final plans for his trip on Christmas Eve, and they're ready to read and reply to the letters of children around the world.

Santa has even enlisted some very special helpers right here in the Western Downs who can make sure your letters gets to him safe and sound.

Children can write to St Nicholas and post their letter through the Libraries at Dalby, Chinchilla, Wandoan, Jandowae and Tara. Letters need to be given to library staff by Friday December 14 so they can be mailed to Santa.

Every child who writes a letter will receive a beautiful reply.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said this initiative was a great way for kids to get into the Christmas spirit.

"The festive season is a wonderful time and our children writing a letter to Santa is one of the most exciting parts about Christmas,” she said.

"Writing a letter to Santa is not only a fun exercise but it also allows our younger people to develop important skills.

"Our libraries staff .... as well as members of the local Lions Clubs will help deliver our letters to the North Pole.

Chinchilla Lions member Lindsay Marsden said members were happy to help ensure all the letters got to Santa in time for Christmas.

"They are beautiful letters and people have to be sure to get them in before December 14 so we have time to get the replies back from the North Pole.”

He said all children needed to do was write their letters and either drop them in at the libraries or send them to Santa C/O Lions Club of Chinchilla, PO Box 193, Chinchilla, Qld, 4413.
