New skate park set to be the perfect gift
CHINCHILLA skaters are set to receive a cracker of a Christmas present, as work on the new skate park begins.
Demolition was underway late last week, with work expected to be completed just in time for Christmas.
Bradley Ehlers and his wife, Claudia, have been behind the project from the start, launching the petition needed to take the project to the council - and now to fruition.
"It's good to see it finally happen,” Mr Ehlers said.
"It's been around two years now since we started the thing.”
The redevelopment is worth about $300,000, two-thirds of which is funded the State Government Works for Queensland program and the remainder from the council capital works allocation.
Mr Ehlers said the new park would be more modern with options for beginners "right up to old farts like me”.
"We're pretty excited about it, I can't wait to see it now, it's unreal,” he said.
"I think we should have something that should blow Miles and Dalby skate parks out of the water.
"It should be a good little Christmas present for Chinchilla.”
