POOCHES will be wagging their tails at crowds in Wandoan with the long awaited return of the Dog Show on this year's Wandoan Show program.
This year hails the return of the once much loved Dog Show after more than 15 years with a number of categories open for proud local pet owners to enter their pooches in.
Prizes will be awarded for best large dog, small dog, puppy, waggiest tail, funniest, cutest and best looking owner and dog couple.
Dog Show Steward Rosie James, a past breeder of pugs, said it's an unregistered dog show which should be fun for everyone and she hopes many locals bring their dogs along.
"We haven't had it for a long time, it was very popular years ago and we thought we'd bring it back,” she said.
"I organised it years ago and it was a big success but there was a lot more people in the area then , our show is a lot smaller than it used to be but very successful. Last year was fantastic and hopefully this year will be the same.
"We just wanted to mix up the show schedule a bit so it's not the same all the time - to make it more interesting.”
Ms James said she is hoping to see a number of dogs at the show which is being held on Saturday, April 22.
"We're hoping to get quite a few. I know we have a local lady from the chemist who is bringing a Great Dane and my daughter is bringing a blonde border collie.”
Local vets from Taroom, Chinchilla and Wandoan will be on hand for judging.
"It should be good. I used to breed dogs so I am pretty enthusiastic about it and all of us involved with various areas of the show are excited about what we do.”
