Riders doing it for the kids
HUGE CROWD, good weather and a first class track were the ingredients for a successful trail bike ride last weekend.
The annual ride in Chinchilla brought in people from around the region and abroad for a weekend of kicking up dirt and sharing a passion.
The ride was for students as well, with proceeds going to the Chinchilla State School Parents and Citizens committee.
Chinchilla Trail Ride secretary Leanne Evans said the committee had received positive feedback from the large cohort of riders.
"We were very happy with the number we got - 570 riders in total,” Mrs Evans said.
"We had people enquiring about the ride from as far as Charleville and Emerald.
"Our track was really well received by the riders because it has a bit of everything for them.”
The combination of dirt, gravel, flat and water elements of the track has given the Chinchilla event a great reputation among the trail ride community.
The money raised from the event will go back into programs for the Chinchilla State School, according to Mrs Evans.
She said finalising one of the school's larger programs was on top of the list.
"Finishing off the prep-school playground has been one of the big things to do,” Mrs Evans said.
"The funds support all existing programs to improve and support our students education.
"We could not have done this without all of our sponsors who have allowed us to make this a successful ride.”
