The Tara Race Club is bursting at the gates as it prepares for the Tara Races this Saturday.

It's a five-race program, and gates open from 11:30am.

Tara Race Club secretary Rhonda Dowling said the club has had 55 nominations for the races so far including eight for the annual Tara Cup, and they're looking forward to the action.

"We're hoping for a good response to it,” Mrs Dowling said.

"Last year was a beauty.”

And the weather is currently tracking for perfect racing conditions.

"We've had 25mm of rain for the week,” Mrs Dowling said.

"Just hoping we don't get too much more before Saturday.”

Among the day's entertainment will be a best dressed competition, and face painting and a jumping castle for the kids.

"We've got a band going into the night,” Mrs Dowling said.

The club is also running a bus from Miles through Condamine to help racegoers arrive in time for the festivities and excitement.

Tickets are available at the gate at $10 for adults, $5 for pensioners, and free entry for children.
