What's on in the Western Downs

Halloween Friday

ALTHOUGH Halloween is technically on October 31, more than a few venues have been good enough to move the festivities forward a few days earlier so adults can join in the ghoulish fun.

The Club Hotel is hosting the fun on Friday night from 8pm with a theme night and prizes for best dressed while DJ Damo spins the tunes until 1am.

Also on Friday, Miles' Queensland Hotel will be going frightfully all out (in the best possible way) with a theme night doing the usual best dressed stuff with live music from Atomic Stomp.

Halloween dance

TRY not to wear yourself out on Friday night because the Halloween excitement will be continuing into the Saturday at Cameby Hall with their annual Halloween dance.

Musical outfit Sound Elite will be providing the dancing tunes from 8pm for groovers who are encouraged to come dressed in their best "batty" outfit.

Thriller at Chinchilla

NO MERE mortal can resist the evil of the Thriller at Chinchilla on Saturday afternoon.

As part of his push to get the Chinchilla Skate Park refurbished, Brad Ehlers has organised to bring a crew of skaters to Chinchilla for an afternoon of extreme skating action. The demonstration kicks off at 2.30pm.

Melbourne Cup

THERE'S no shortage of places to go in the Western Downs for Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday. Chinchilla's Club Hotel are putting on an ice-sculptured seafood buffet with all of the trimmings from 11am which will be followed by live music from 4.30pm. To book, phone the club on 4669 1100.

Also getting into the racing action is the Chinchilla RSL Memorial Club with a two course buffet luncheon from midday. Also on the program will be prizes for best dressed, lucky door prizes and sweeps.

Miles won't miss out on the Melbourne Cup action either, thanks to the Queensland Hotel hosting a Calcutta draw with complimentary prawn and chicken from 6pm.

Murder play

MILES Regional Arts Council's annual play is having its final weekend of performance this Friday and Saturday night.

Don't miss local talent treading the boards for the last time in Murder at the Music Hall. Doors open at 6pm and show starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be purchased at the Leichardt Hall on the night or bookings can be made by phoning Dogwood Crossing on 4628 5330.
